Cherry Hill Set To Honor Female High School Wrestler
Maya Hemo is the first female state champ in the history of Cherry Hill East Wrestling, according to the township's website.
CHERRY HILL TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Cherry Hill Township Council is expected to honor Maya Hemo — the first female state champion in the history of Cherry Hill East Wrestling — at their council meeting on Monday night.
The 126-pound junior capped a successful season by winning seven matches in the New Jersey state wrestling playoffs to win the state title, according to highschoolsports.nj.com.
The last wrestlers from Cherry Hill East wrestling to win a state championship were Tom Nugent in 1983 and Greg Casamento in 1988, the courierpostonline.com reported.
