Residents will be able to get alerts about emergencies and township news via the new system.

CHERRY HILL, NJ - With yet another storm on the horizon for this week, Cherry Hill residents will have a new way to keep up with emergency alerts from the township, officials announced.

The Nixle Communications system enables immediate text messages to registered cell phones and email addresses, to alert residents and businesses about safety and health subjects of concern, such as severe weather conditions, traffic disruptions, road closures, flooding conditions, power outages, and important health notices, as well as significant community updates and announcements.

“With the vast majority of people having access to cell phones - we thought what better way to communicate with our residents than a communication system that will send alerts and notifications directly to their device,” Cherry Hill Mayor Chuck Cahn said. “In the past, we have communicated via our website and social media pages, but we realize not everyone has access or checks for updates throughout the course of the day. With this new system, residents will have the option to sign up for alerts and notifications via text, email, voice, social media, and through the Nixle Mobile App in an instant.”
