Girl Scout Volunteer From Cherry Hill Charged With Child Pornography Possession

Police say they discovered images of child pornography on Phillip Sheppard's home computer.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A software engineer who volunteers with the Girl Scouts of America in Cherry Hill has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Cherry Hill Police Chief William Monaghan said.

Phillip Sheppard, 42, of Cherry Hill, was charged with one count of third-degree possession of child pornography after detectives from the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant early Friday morning at his home.

Police say images of child pornography were discovered on Sheppard’s computer onsite while detectives seized numerous digital media devices.

The search of his home was the result of an investigation that began after detectives noticed activity indicative of child pornography coming from an IP address associated with Sheppard’s home.

Following the investigation and arrest, Sheppard was charged by summons and released.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office led the investigation, with assistance from members of Homeland Security Investigations – Cherry Hill Division, the Waterford Township Police Department and the Cherry Hill Police Department Tactical Team.
