Cherry Hill Man Charged In Ocean County Bank Robbery: Police

Breaking: The man holed up in a house in Point Pleasant; the Ocean County SWAT team had to get him out, police said.

BRICK, NJ — A Cherry Hill man has been charged with robbery in connection with a hold-up at a Princeton Avenue bank on Tuesday, Brick police said Wednesday.

Brooks Henderson 3rd, 41, of Cherry Hill is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail, no 10 percent, set by Superior Court Judge James Blaney at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, Brick Sgt. Neal Pedersen said.

Henderson was found hiding in a Point Pleasant home after the robbery of the Manasquan Savings Bank, 24 Princeton Ave., which happened just before noon on Tuesday, Pedersen said.

Brick police issued a be-on-the-lookout call to law enforcement in the area and shared surveillance photos of the suspect on Facebook.

The suspect, now identified as Henderson, was described as a white male in his mid-50s, 6-foot-3, with dirty blonde hair and a bandage under his left eye. He was said to be driving a black pickup with a tool box mounted on the bed, possibly a Ford F-150, Pedersen said.

Members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department located a vehicle on Glenwood Avenue in Point Pleasant that matched the description of the suspect vehicle, Pedersen said.

Police from both the Point Pleasant and Brick Township police departments responded and set up a perimeter around the home, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Regional SWAT Team responded and attempted to make contact with the suspect, Pedersen said.

The SWAT team made entry into the house about 3:30 p.m. and located Henderson, who was taken to Brick Township police headquarters, charged, and taken to jail, he said.

Detectives Greg Mullarkey and Tara Schinder are leading the investigation, Pedersen said. The FBI's Red Bank office responded to assist.
