Cherry Hill Man In His 50s Dies Of Coronavirus

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A Cherry Hill man in his 50s has died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Friday.

He is the 165th Cherry Hill resident to die after testing positive for the virus. He was one of four Camden County residents whose deaths related to the coronavirus was announced on Friday.

The others were a Camden man in his 60s, a Voorhees man in his 60s and a Gloucester Township woman in her 80s.

Six Cherry Hill residents were also among the 38 new positive cases of the coronavirus reported in Camden County on Friday. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases.

There are now 1,303 cases of the coronavirus in Cherry Hill. Countywide there are now 9,711 cases of the coronavirus in Camden County with 562 confirmed deaths.

“We are deeply saddened to learn that four additional members of the Camden County family have lost their lives to COVID-19,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Even as our state continues to make progress towards recovery, we are keeping all victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers. Remember, we can prevent further unnecessary loss of life by wearing masks, social distancing, and working with Camden County contact tracers when they call.”

The following information is available about the new coronavirus cases reported in Cherry Hill:

• Two boys older than 10;
• A woman in her 40s;
• A girl older than 10;
• A woman in her 50s; and
• A man in his 20s.

According to the Camden County Department of Health, there are 1,369 confirmed cases among residents at the county's long-term care facilities, with 314 deaths. Another 553 cases were reported among staff members, with three deaths.
