Cherry Hill Man Sentenced For Molesting Child In Indiana

Jonathan A. Trauger traveled 600 miles to molest the victim in a hotel, according to The Star Press​.

MUNCIE, IN — A Cherry Hill man who traveled 600 miles to molest a child in Indiana was sentenced Monday to three years in prison.

Jonathan A. Trauger, 28, was accused of traveling to Muncie — 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis — to molest a 13-year-old girl at a hotel in late 2021, according to The Star Press. Trauger met the victim online, according to an affidavit.

A judge accepted a plea agreement Monday that capped Trauger's sentencing to six years. He was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by three years of home detention.

Trauger must also register as a sex offender for 10 years after he's released.

Judge Doug Mawhorr told Trauger his crime was "emotionally and psychologically devastating to the victim" during the sentencing hearing in Delaware County, Indiana.

"You knew she was 13 years old," Mawhorr said, according to The Star Press. "And you knew your relationship was wrong."

Trauger pleaded guilty in September to child molesting, court records show.
