CHERRY HILL, NJ — Cherry Hill Mayor Susan Shin Angulo spoke out against the violence seen at the nation’s capitol as part of her weekly address to township residents.
“The peaceful transfer of power is a pillar of our democracy,” Angulo said in the message to the community. “The attack on the U.S. Capitol Building, and the people inside, was shameful and shook us to the very core of what unites us as Americans. There is no place for violence in our society. An effective democracy is one where citizens resolve differences in a civil and respectful manner.”
Pro-Trump rioters raided the nation’s capitol in an effort to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 Presidential Election on Jan. 6. Despite a long delay, the results were ultimately certified.
