Cherry Hill School Budget Approved With Tax Increase

The district will spend $2.5 million in capital reserve on 14 projects, according to the Cherry Hill Sun.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The average Cherry Hill taxpayer will see an annual increase of $142.30 after the Cherry Hill Board of Education approved its $194,085,006 budget this week. It includes a 2.93 percent tax rate increase, and the total budget is up by about $3 million from last year, according to the Cherry Hill Sun. Two exceptions are being used to raise the school district's budget over the state's 2 percent cap.

Increases in health care costs are allowing the district to use an adjustment, according to the report. It will also use $294,180 in banked cap, which is money that is banked when a school district doesn't raise taxes up to the 2 percent cap in a given year.

The district will spend $2.5 million in capital reserve on 14 projects, according to the report. These include crawl space improvements, generator upgrades and HVAC replacement and upgrades at various schools, as well as the replacement of exterior doors at two of the three middle schools.
