CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Cherry Hill Public School District is putting together a pair of committees after residents voted down $210 million in proposed school upgrades last year.

The Bond Referendum Ad Hoc Committee has suggested the district put together alternative funding and safety and security committees.

Three members of the community will be selected to serve on each committee. The deadline to apply was this week.

The Alternative Funding Committee will hold four evening meetings:
  • October 30, 2019: Understanding the School Budget
  • December 10, 2019: Discussion with Bond Counsel regarding what school districts are permitted/not permitted to do with alternative revenues
  • February 5, 2020: Examples from other school districts/best practices
  • April 21, 2020: Recommendations to the Board of Education for alternative revenue pursuits
Members of the Safety & Security Committee will hold four evening meetings:
  • October 29, 2019: Public forum with a panel of experts
  • December 12, 2019: Review of current district plan
  • February 13, 2020: Examples/ideas/best practices
  • April 23, 2020: Recommendations to Board of Education for updates or changes to current plans
