Cherry Hill Sports Wrap: Cougars Down Washington Twp. Boys' Soccer

East got a second-half surge to knock off the Minutemen Wednesday.

Greg Weinstock and Andrew Adler scored second-half goals, and the Cherry Hill East Cougars held on for a 5-3 win over Washington Township Wednesday. Senior Steve Oblander came in to play keeper and recorded 13 saves in the half he played to help stymie the Minutemen.

Zach Steinbock scored two goals and Jake Faford scored once in the first half for East.

The Lions lost on a freak 45-yarder by the Crusaders' Alec Palmieri, who buried it in the top corner off a turnover. Sean Mullarkey stopped four shots in the loss.

The Minutemaids' Allegra Ondrejka scored the game-winner to beat the Cougars. East's Erica Hansen scored her team's only goal on the afternoon.

Taylor Janney scored the Cougars' only goal of the game, as Seneca got tallies from three different players to pull out the win.

Washington Township 5, Cherry Hill West 1

The Lions managed just one second-half goal against the Minutemaids, who piled on the offense in both halves.
