Cherry Hill West Baseball Team to Open Diamond Classic Against Bishop Eustace

The Cherry Hill High School West baseball team earned an at-large berth in South Jersey’s unofficial championship tournament.

The Lions (11-5) open the 42nd annual Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic at Washington Township against Bishop Eustace (12-4) on Saturday, 1 p.m., according to nj.com.

Cherry Hill West qualified as the No. 2 wild card. Bishop Eustace is in first place in the Olympic Conference’s National Division.

A total of 16 teams from what is traditionally considered the South Jersey area will compete in the tournament, with 10 teams qualifying because they were in first place in their division at the cutoff date and six other teams qualifying as wild-card teams.

The second round is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, with the semifinals and finals on Sunday, May 17.

St. Augustine vs. Eastern, 1 p.m.

At Hammonton:

Northern Burlington vs. Buena, 10:30 a.m.

At Maple Shade:

Mainland vs. Riverside, 10:30 a.m.

Ocean City vs. Kingsway, 1 p.m.

At Washington Township:

Lenape vs. Gloucester Catholic, 10:30 a.m.
