Cherry Hill West Grad Wins $5,000 Scholarship From Dunkin'

The breakfast chain and its franchisees in the Philly area gave out 20 of these $5,000 scholarships this year.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Dunkin' awarded a recent Cherry Hill High School West graduate a $5,000 scholarship as part of its Philadelphia Regional Scholarship Program.

Aziza Ben Abdallah of Cherry Hill is headed to Columbia University to study human rights, according to a news release. In high school, Ben Abdallah was involved in multiple organizations and also received Girl Scouting's highest honor, the Gold Award. You may read more about her achievements below.

The scholarship helps high school seniors and college students in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware.

More than 1,350 students applied based on their "academic record, demonstrated leadership, and proven commitment to their school and local community," according to Dunkin'. The breakfast chain and its franchisees in the Philly area gave out 20 of these $5,000 scholarships this year for the 30th anniversary of the scholarship program.This is an increase from the $2,000 prize given out in previous years.

The awards ceremony was July 30 at The Liberty View at Independence Visitor Center.

Aziza Ben Abdallah is a recent graduate of Cherry Hill High School West where she was an incredibly active member of the community. She was Student Government Representative, a ProjectLit Group Leader, and captain of her Field Hockey team. Aziza was also involved in DECA as both a state and national qualifier, as well as having a hand in Mock Trial and community service. Outside of school she served as Social Action Chair on the Alice Paul Institute Girls Leadership Council. And if all that is not impressive enough, Aziza earned her Gold Award after 13 years of being a member of the Girl Scouts. This fall, Ben Abdallah will be attending Columbia University where she plans to major in Human Rights.
