Cherry Hill West High Baseball Team To Open Diamond Classic Against Cinnaminson

The Lions qualified for the unofficial South Jersey championship tournament, which begins May 13.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Cherry Hill High School West baseball team begins its quest for the unofficial South Jersey championship this weekend. The Lions face Cinnaminson in the first round of the 44th annual Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic on Saturday afternoon, 1 p.m., at Deptford. The winner will play the winner of the game between Haddon Heights and Shawnee in the second round.

Cinnaminson qualified for the tournament as the first place team in the Burlington County League’s Liberty Division, according to nj.com. Cherry Hill West earned an at-large bid to the competition.

A total of 16 teams from what is traditionally considered the South Jersey area will compete in the tournament, with 10 teams qualifying because they were in first place in their division at the cutoff date and six other teams earning at-large bids.

Cinnaminson is 7-7 this season, according to nj.com. Cherry Hill West is 10-4.

The second round games are scheduled for Saturday, May 20, with the semifinals and final set for Sunday, May 21, according to the Courier Post.

At Maple Shade
Maple Shade (Burlington Freedom) vs. Bishop Eustace (Olympic National), 10:30 a.m.
Eastern (1 at-large) vs. Vineland (Cape-Atlantic National), 1 p.m.

At Hammonton
Audubon (3 at-large) vs. Gloucester Catholic (Tri-County Classic), 10:30 a.m.
Holy Spirit (5 at-large) vs. Hammonton (Tri-County Royal), 1 p.m.

At Deptford
Haddon Heights (Colonial Patriot) vs. Shawnee (Olympic American), 10:30 a.m.
Cherry Hill West (6 at-large) vs. Cinnaminson (Burlington Liberty), 1 p.m.

At Washington Township
Washington Township (4 at-large) vs. St. Joseph (Cape-Atlantic National), 10:30 a.m.
St. Augustine (2 at-large) vs. Haddonfield (Colonial Liberty), 1 p.m.
