Coaches Cup: East Boys' Soccer Advances, Girls Bow Out
The boys play Sunday in the semifinals at Eastern.

Steven Oberlander was a wall in the net, stopping 18 shots, as the Cougars boys and Cherokee deadlocked through two halves and all of overtime Friday in the Coaches Cup quarterfinals.
Garrett McVeigh's goal off an assist from Kyle Lochbihler was enough to keep East in it, though, and the Cougars eventually prevailed on penalty kicks, 4-3, to notch their second straight upset and get into the semis at the No. 14 seed.
East now gets to face Washington Township, a team it beat, 5-3, just two weeks ago. That game is slated for Sunday at noon at Eastern.

East girls' soccer
The Cougars couldn't find many scoring chances against Shawnee keeper Glade Nugent, and the Renegades' Taylor Ryan broke a 1-1 tie with her second-half goal to send the No. 14 East girls packing in the quarterfinals.
