Conagra Closing Cherry Hill Office As 196 Layoffs Expected

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Hundreds of Conagra employees will be laid off sometime in 2019 as the company closes their Cherry Hill office, one of two New Jersey offices that will be closing, the company confirmed on Friday.

Company spokesperson Dan Hare confirmed the closure, saying the offices in Parsippany and Cherry Hill would be closed by the end of 2019. According to notices filed with the state, 308 Parsippany employees and 196 in Cherry Hill will be laid off.

Some employees will be able to apply for other Conagra positions, Hare said. Their headquarters are in Chicago, and other corporate offices are in Omaha, Nebraska. Hare called those locations "cost effective" and said keeping management teams there "best allows us to meet the needs of the business."

"We are committed to treating all employees with respect by providing as much advance notice as possible and transition support," Hare said.

Both New Jersey offices used to be owned by Pinnacle Foods; that company was sold to Conagra earlier in 2018 for nearly $11 billion, NJ.com reported. Conagra makes a wide variety of food brands, including Hebrew National, Marie Callender's, Slim Jims, and Chef Boyardee.
