Damage, Road Closures After Storm In Cherry Hill: Police

There are numerous downed trees and wires on Brace Road following Monday night's storm.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — There are numerous trees and power lines down on Brace Road between Route 70 and Kresson Road following Monday's storm, Cherry Hill police said Tuesday morning. Brace Road is closed southbound at the Connector and northbound at Munn Lane.

Additionally:

  • The traffic signal is out at Borton Mill Road and there is no through traffic.
  • Greenvale Road and Doe Lane is closed due to a fallen tree.
  • South Brookfield Road at Cedarbrook Road is closed due to a fallen tree.
  • The area of 9 Hessian Way is impassable due to a fallen tree.
  • Please use caution at the following intersections as the traffic signals are without power.
  • Route 70 and Marlkress Road and Route 70 and Greentree Road.
  • The jug handle at Rt. 70 and Greentree is closed.
  • Kitty Hawk Road is closed at Nantucket Drive due to downed wires.

The image above was shared by Cherry Hill resident Randy Miller. A tree fell into her neighbor's house. Their neighbor saw the wind coming, ran in his house, and heard the tree crash. Miller said her street got hit hard.

"If you see a downed power line please call 9-1-1. Always assume power lines are energized and dangerous," police said. "Never drive over a downed line or through water that is touching the line. Avoid touching anything that is in contact with a fallen power line."

Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting has been moved to Carusi Middle School because the Mahlberg Administration Building is still without power. Carusi Middle School is located at 315 Roosevelt Drive. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be live streamed without the use of individual microphones.

Tuesday night's Music Under the Stars concert featuring The Jersey Beach Boys has been cancelled due to the significant storms and projected forecast.

As of 5 a.m., Cherry Hill police officers had responded to over 200 storm related calls for service, including more than 45 involving fallen trees, according to the police department.
