East Softball Bounces Back to Lead Locals
Also, the Cougars baseball team ekes out a late victory.

Cherry Hill East’s Michelle Sachais struck out six in a complete game Thursday as the Cougars’ softball team beat Cherokee, 5-3. Sachais also had a double, and Lindsay Savar smacked a triple for the Cougars.

The Lions manged just three hits and committed five errors in a road loss to Paul VI.

East 3, Cherokee 2
The Cougars held off a late rally by the Chiefs behind Nick DiEva’s three-hit, 12-strikeout performance on the mound. Alex Kramer smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and give the Cougars the win.
Paul VI 11, West 5
The Lions struck first, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, but Paul VI answered right back and kept the offense moving, scoring runs in five innings.
Bishop Eustace 9, Camden Catholic 4
The Irish took a 4-1 lead through six innings, but Bishop Eustace poured it on in the final frame to escape with the victory. Joe Craig homered for Camden Catholic.
Boys tennis
East 3, Cherokee 2
Hank Davis scored a 6-0, 6-3 victory at first singles to help the Cougars clinch the win.
Moorestown Friends 5, West 0
Lions first singles player Louis Stewart pushed Spencer Kelly, but fell, 7-5, 6-0, as West lost all five matches in straight sets.
Girls lacrosse
Clearview 15, East 14
The Cougars staged a second-half comeback to tie the game and send it into overtime, but Clearview managed the game-winner in the extra period to edge East. Emily Johnson scored five goals for East, while Caitlin Delaney and Taylor Patrizi each scored three.
Boys volleyball
Kingsway 2, West 1
The Lions scored a 25-22 win in the first game, but were edged out in the second, 29-27, before losing the deciding third game, 25-19.
East 2, Eastern 0
The Cougars improved to 2-0 with a 25-19, 25-22 victory over Eastern. Nick DiVito had 13 kills and two aces, and teammate Liam McIntyre notched 24 assists.
