Fatal Shooting In Camden Under Investigation: Prosecutor

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after he reached the hospital that afternoon, authorities said.

CAMDEN, NJ — A man suffered fatal gunshot wounds Sunday afternoon in Camden, officials said.

Police detected gunshots via ShotSpotter at about 12:45 p.m. on 7th and Bailey streets, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO). Arriving officers found the victim — later identified as Jose Rivera — suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Officials took the 47-year-old Camden resident to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 1 p.m., the CCPO said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
