Fire Consumes Short Hills Plaza Businesses In Cherry Hill: Police

No injuries were reported in the late Friday morning fire.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A fire consumed a number of businesses at Short Hills Plaza on Evesham Road in Cherry Hill on Friday. It broke out at about 11 a.m., and was contained just before noon, according to the Cherry Hill Fire Department.

Everyone in the stores at the strip mall was accounted for, and as were all the dogs at Camp Bow Wow, according to the fire department. No injuries were reported.

Due to fire conditions upon arrival, fire crews were not able to venture into any of the stores, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation by the fire marshal. The power was off overnight due to a nearby utility project, and the fire ignited shortly after it was turned back on, 6 ABC reports. There were three employees in Classic Cake at the time, but they managed to escape. The fire created a thick fog that could be seen for miles.

Pictures posted online by the fire department showed flames coming through the roof at Classic Cake, Hanger, Camp Bow Wow and The Make Up Bar.

The roofs of all businesses in the strip mall except for Starbucks appear to have been destroyed, according to NBC 10.
