Fired Football Coach Retains Attorney: Report

Nick Strom has claimed he was fired because he had too many black players on his team.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The former Camden Catholic High School football coach who claims he was fired for having too many black players on his team has reportedly hired a law firm.

Nick Strom has retained the law firm Costello and Mains, nj.com reports. Daniel Silverman told the website he and managing partner Kevin Costello are exploring all options on behalf of Strom.

After he was fired as the school’s football and golf coach, and placed on administrative leave as a history teacher, Strom — who is white — claimed the school didn’t approve of the ratio of black to white students on his teams. The school has denied those allegations, but hasn’t commented publicly on why Strom was fired.

Strom’s former coach told CBS 3 that he and Strom had several discussions about a bias the school seemed to have against minorities.

The Mt. Laurel-based law firm represents people who have endured sexual harassment, job discrimination, unpaid wages and overtime, whistleblower retaliation, labor law violations, bullying, civil rights abuses and other mistreatment in the workplace, at school or in the public sphere, according to its website.
