Garden State Chorale Pops Concert Set For May 6

The chorale is made up of singers from across South Jersey.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Garden State Chorale’s annual spring pops concert is set for Saturday, May 6, at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church at 327 Marlton Pike (Route 70) in Cherry Hill. The church is adjacent to Ponzio’s Diner.

Now in its 86th year, the Chorale includes singers from throughout South Jersey. It is under the direction of Nicholas Petroski, and is accompanied by Pauline Worusski.

This year’s concert is dedicated to legendary song-writing “dynamic duos.” It will celebrate famous musical collaborators like George and Ira Gershwin, Simon and Garfunkel, Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Duke Ellington and Irving Mills, Lennon and McCartney, Fred Ebb and John Kander (think “Cabaret” and “New York, New York”) and Rodgers and Hammerstein, among others.

Throughout the year, the chorale conducts fundraising to support its annual scholarship program, which awards a worthy South Jersey high school senior who will be pursuing a college education in vocal music studies. The chorale will announce this year’s recipients during this concert.
