CHERRY HILL, NJ — Following storms that lead to massive flooding throughout South Jersey overnight Wednesday into Thursday, Gov. Phil Murphy visited South Jersey to assess the damage. The trips came after he declared a State of Emergency for Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties.

Murphy visited Southampton and Cherry Hill on Thursday. He was joined by Col. Patrick Callahan of the New Jersey State Police. In addition to assessing the damage, they spent time with first responders at Cherry Hill Fire Department, Central Command to thank them for their service, according to state police.

About 60 homes in Southampton were evacuated due to the Rancocas Creek flooding, according to the Burlington County Office of Emergency Management (Burlington County OEM). Southampton and Lumberton have each opened a reception center for displaced residents. Call 211 for details on the nearest reception center.
