CHERRY HILL, NJ (September 6, 2016) - Jacobs Music Company continues its tradition of nurturing and supporting music and music education by offering highly qualified instructors, including Cherry Hill residents, Peter Grella and Irina Nenartovich, and excellent instruments in a beautiful studio setting with a comfortable waiting area for students and families. All of the studios are equipped with instruments from the Family of Steinway Designed pianos and some also have digital pianos to accommodate students who wish to explore technology and other musical genres. In addition, there is a spacious recital facility with a Steinway Grand piano for student and professional performances, Artist Master Classes and Educational Clinics. All are welcome and lessons are tailored for adults and children, accomplished players and those who have never before touched a piano. Due to increased demand, the company has hired additional teachers and is now expanding its piano lesson program.

Lynn Lewis, with a Master’s Degree in Music Education, has been teaching at Jacobs Music for almost 20 years. With about 40 students of her own, Lynn expresses that she always tries to “make piano lessons a fun learning experience.” She further shares that she is “very glad to see the company’s growing emphasis on piano instruction.”

Recognizing the value of a musical education, Anthony Ochuida, Manager of Jacobs Music of Cherry Hill, speaks of study after study in which, “scientists are finding correlations between music-making and some of the deepest working of the human brain. Research has linked active music-making with better language and math ability, improved school grades, better adjusted social behavior and improvements in spatial-temporal reasoning, which is the foundation of engineering and science. A ten year study tracking more than 25,000 students showed that music-making improves test scores. Music participants also receive more academic honors and awards than non-music students.”

Jacobs’ instructors have themselves studied at some of the world’s most revered conservatories, from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia to the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. Gabrielle Rinkus, Education Coordinator for Jacobs Music, holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Temple University. While at Temple, she studied piano with Alexander Fiorillo, who was one of the few students to study with the renowned Vladimir Horowitz. She describes her teaching philosophy as “based on the idea that piano study must go beyond basic technique to explore the aspects of expression and artistry.”
