Latest Coronavirus Updates In Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The number of coronavirus cases in Cherry Hill has increased to 1,355 following the Labor Day Weekend, according to Camden County officials.

The number was updated after 14 new cases were reported in the township from Sept. 5-8. There were no new deaths reported in the township, leaving Cherry Hill with 166 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths.

Camden County has surpassed 10,000 cases. Ninety-five cases were reported in the county over the Labor Day Weekend, bringing the total to 10,013. There were also two new deaths, increasing the number of fatalities to 568.

The new deaths included a Winslow Township woman in her 90s and a Voorhees woman in her 70s.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce two additional deaths in our community caused by COVID-19. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Recent reports suggest that the long-term implications of contracting coronavirus are more dire for young people than previously thought. Months-long illness and permanent damage to internal organs are possible, and we can’t know what effects will manifest in 10 or 20 years. This is why everyone, regardless of age, needs to take this seriously, do their part to stop the spread, and protect themselves.”

Officials plan to roll out a public health campaign centered on young residents when they provide their next county update at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Cappelli will be joined by Rep. Donald Norcross and Assistant Health Coordinator Caryelle Lasher for that address, which will be streamed live on the county’s Facebook page and at camdencounty.com/live.

“With schools opening this week across the county, we have officially entered a new phase in this pandemic,” Cappelli said. “Now more than ever we need to keep our residents on the same page and arm them with information that will keep them and their loved ones safe. We hope anyone with questions will join us live or use the online form to submit them in advance.”

In Cherry Hill alone, three of the new cases involved children, all girls older than 10. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases. The following information is available regarding new cases in Cherry Hill:

• Three girls older than 10;
• Four women in their 20s;
• Three men in their 20s;
• A man in his 30s;
• A woman in her 40s; and
• Two women in their 50s.
