Man Dead After Hit-And-Run Crash In Vineland: Police

The man died in the hospital the following day.

VINELAND, NJ —A man died after he was hit by a driver who left the scene of the crash on Saturday, Vineland Police said.

Karolina Ortiz-Angel, 21 of Bridgeton, was issued motor vehicle citations for leaving the scene of a collision causing death and failing to report a collision.

Authorities responded at around 5:55 a.m. to the area of E Sherman Avenue and S Lincoln Avenue for a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.

Ortiz-Angel was driving a blue 2013 Ford Mustang east along E Sherman Avenue towards S Lincoln Avenue when she noticed a man in the road.

She did not believe she hit him after she swerved away, officials said, and did stay on scene for some time to check out her surroundings.

After not seeing the man on the road, she left.

Frederic Acevedo was taken to Cooper University Hospital and died on Sunday.

Patch has reached out to Vineland Police for more information regarding the whereabouts of Acevedo before he was transported.

Police were eventually able to find the Mustang and conducted a stop after noticing damage that was consistent with evidence at the crash site.

Ortiz-Angel was not hurt in the collision.
