Man Robbed, Tried To Kidnap Woman At Cherry Hill Apartments: PD

A man robbed a woman at gunpoint and tried to force her into the trunk of his car at a Cherry Hill apartment complex Friday, police said.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Police are investigating an incident in which a man robbed a woman at gunpoint and tried to force her into the trunk of a car at a Cherry Hill apartment complex Friday night. The woman was able to escape the situation, and the man fled the scene and remains at large, Cherry Hill police said Saturday morning.

The incident began when the woman came home to the Plaza Grande Apartments on Park Boulevard at about 7:30 p.m. Friday night. She told police that she was about to go into the lobby of her building from the parking garage when the man approached her, struck up a conversation, and followed her into the elevator.

Once inside the elevator, he robbed her of her bags at gunpoint, police said. He then forced her out of the elevator, through the lobby and back into the parking garage, police said. As they approached a dark-colored sedan, he popped the trunk open and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t get in the trunk, police said.

When she resisted, the man hit her in the face with the handgun, police said. She was able to escape his grip and return to the lobby, police said. The man suffered minor abrasions in the struggle, and never sought medical treatment, police said. He was last seen fleeing in the dark-colored sedan onto Garden Park Drive, police said.

He is described as a Black man, 35-45 years of age, approximately 5’10” with a thin build and wavy black and gray hair.
