Man Sexually Abused Children For Nearly 10 Years In South Jersey, Jury Says

CAMDEN, NJ — A 41-year-old man was convicted after he sexually abused two children for nearly 10 years, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.

Miguel A. Mota, of Camden, was found guilty Tuesday on four counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of third-degree aggravated sexual contact, one count of third-degree terroristic threats, and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

Beginning in April 2020, the Camden County Police Department started looking into Mota after a female who was living in his house reported the abuse.

Authorities found that Mota sexually abused the child multiple times between November 2010 and April 2020 when she was between the ages of 7 and 16.

Mota was first charged on April 8, 2020.

In July 2024, officials learned that another child who was living at the home reported that she too was sexually abused by him.

According to authorities, Mota abused the second child multiple times between December 2010 and April 2020 when she was between the ages of 5 and 14.

Additional charges were filed on July 30, 2024.

Both women testified at the trial, and Mota was taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility following the ruling.

He was previously released by the court on pre-trial monitoring after a detention hearing.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 25.
