Murder-Suicide Reported at South Jersey Assisted Living Facility

A man shot and killed his mother before he killed himself Sunday evening.

A Lumberton man shot and killed his elderly mother before killing himself at Genesis HealthCare Center on Evesham Road in Voorhees on Sunday, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Voorhees Police Chief Louis Bordi said Sunday night.

George Buller III, 62, arrived at the facility around 4:30 p.m. to visit his mother at the center, which serves those with mild, moderate and severe Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Buller allegedly shot his mother, 85-year-old Andrea Buller in her room after they ate together. He then turned the gun on himself.

Voorhees Police were called to the scene on the 3000 block of Evesham Road around 5:44 p.m. Both were pronounced deceased via telemetry at 6:08 p.m.

No other injuries were reported. The shooting remains under investgiation.

A nurse’s aide walked in just as the man shot himself, NBC 10 reports. Buller had visited his mother at the facility in the past.
