New Coronavirus Cases In Cherry Hill; State Ranking Released

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Six more Cherry Hill residents have tested positive for coronavirus, Camden County officials announced Monday evening.

With the new cases, the total number of cases in Cherry Hill is now 577. Patch obtained numbers that showed 560 cases in the township as of Saturday, and 11 new cases were reported on Sunday.

Patch also ranked the towns based on number of cases per 1,000 people. As of Saturday, Cherry Hill ranked 296th out of 565 towns in the state, with 7.90 cases per 1,000 people. Read more here: Latest Town-By-Town Coronavirus Cases Are Released, Ranked

The new Cherry Hill cases included a man in his 60s, a woman in her 80s, a man in his 90s, a woman in her 50s, a woman in her 40s and a man in his 80s.

As of Monday, 4,272 Camden County residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, and there have been 218 fatalities. Ninety-three new cases were reported on Monday. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases.

“We are encouraged to see that the rate of new cases in Camden County remains consistent with where it has been over the last ten days,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Our team is continuing to work closely with our partners throughout the community to attack this virus, protect our vulnerable citizens, and save lives. We are actively working to identify areas which are experiencing greater rates of viral activity, and we are continuing to monitor the situation in our long-term care facilities where roughly one in four of our cases have occurred. While we are making progress, I want to continue to urge our residents not to be lulled into thinking our fight is nearly over. The truth is this fight is going to take time, but it can be made shorter if we continue to social distance, wear face covers or masks, and follow the governor’s orders.”

According to the Camden County Department of Health, 1,078 of the county's cases have been connected to the county's 56 long-term care facilities. A total of 173 of the county's 218 deaths have been connected to these nursing homes, according to officials.
