New Details In Crash That Damaged Historic South Jersey Bridge
The Scarborough Covered Bridge in Cherry Hill is still closed to vehicle traffic at this time, police tell Patch.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — There are new details available regarding the vehicle crash that damaged the historic Scarborough Covered Bridge on Tuesday.
"The truck that struck the bridge had left prior to police arrival," Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf told Patch. "Our Traffic Safety Unit is investigating that end of the matter."
It appears the bridge's "internal beams were struck," he said.

The road in the immediate vicinity of the bridge remains closed until an engineer can provide a thorough assessment of the damage, according to Kempf.
The township said it was unable to shed any light on the specific date the bridge might reopen, only saying on its Facebook page that "it appears there may be a longer-term shut down on that road."
