PDQ Abruptly Closes 2 South Jersey Restaurants, Including Cherry Hill's

CHERRY HILL, NJ — PDQ has flown the coop at two of its South Jersey locations, closing its restaurants in Sicklerville in Cherry Hill.

The Southern chicken chain reached New Jersey and the Northeast in 2015, when PDQ opened in Sicklerville. The fast-food establishment expanded into Cherry Hill the following year.

But both restaurants have abruptly closed, leaving New Jersey with only one PDQ — in Marlton.

Founded in 2009, PDQ opened its first eatery two years later in Tampa, Florida. The business has roughly 70 locations — most of which are in the Sunshine State.

PDQ's departure comes as several other Southern chicken chains land in the Garden State, including Raising Cane's and Bojangles. Raising Cane's has several South Jersey locations in the works, while Bojangles plans to open 10 restaurants across North and Central Jersey.

Those chains also face stiff competition from Southern chicken joints with a long-established presence in the state, such as Chick-fil-A.

PDQ's Cherry Hill restaurant was located at 614 Haddonfield Rd.
