Train Strikes, Kills Woman In Camden County Wednesday: NJ Transit

NJ Transit officials say a woman was struck and killed by a train en route from Atlantic City to Philadelphia on Wednesday morning.

LINDENWOLD, NJ — A train struck and fatally injured a female pedestrian Wednesday morning just south of Lindenwold, according to NJ Transit.

Atlantic City Rail Line train 4612, en route to Philadelphia, hit the woman at approximately 7:45 a.m., an NJ Transit spokesperson told Patch. She has not been identified.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.

None of the approximately 160 customers or crew aboard reported injuries, said NJ Transit.

Service on the Atlantic City Line was suspended in both directions between Atco and Cherry Hill from approximately 8:13 a.m. until 12:49 p.m. Wednesday, NJ Transit said.

The train departed Atlantic City at 6:49 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Philadelphia at 8:28 a.m., the transit agency said.
