'Porter's Lodge' Wins No Roof Left Behind
Cherry Hill's Bill and Pat Porter have been selected in an online voting campaign to receive a much-needed new roof. #NoRoofLeftBehind
*Note: the #NoRoofLeftBehind installation celebration is now scheduled Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (weather permitting; rescheduled from June 4 due to rain in the forecast)
A Cherry Hill family’s house, affectionately known to many as ‘Porter’s Lodge’ is getting a new roof replacing the 30-year old leaky structure, thanks to the roofing industry’s No Roof Left Behind™ program and M. Rosenblatt Roofing, a family owned and operated roofing company in business since 1929. Deserving families throughout the United States and Canada are receiving a much needed new roof through this program established in 2009.
Bill and Patricia Porter of Cherry Hill, received the most votes among nominees in Camden County, NJ. An online voting campaign was led by the Porter’s pastor and dozens of friends who’ve seen the family help so many people over the years. Once finalists were selected in Camden County, the Porter family received nearly 800 No Roof Left Behind votes of support.

M. Rosenblatt Roofing’s Eric and Stephen Meller and their team of professionals are scheduled to lead the installation celebration at the Porter’s home Saturday, June 4. The Rosenblatt Roofing team will also repair any structural roof deficiencies and replace gutters and downspouts.
Nominated by pastor Curt Mount of Community of Christ Church in Woodbury, Bill Porter, 72 and his wife, Patricia, 69, are overwhelmed by support from friends, the community and Rosenblatt Roofing.

“We’ve always opened our door to friends and family so they could hang their hat as long as they needed a place to stay and get back on their feet,” says Mr. Porter. “A while back, one of our guests made us a sign ‘Porter’s Lodge’ because of the number of people who’ve stayed with us during their tough times over the years,” he adds. “We never thought we deserved such an awesome reward for something we have always done – helped others when they’re down.”
The Porters have continued to help others; and by all accounts have never complained or let on that times have been tough since the 2007 recession following the Porters’ retirement. Now, their son, Tyler, 43 and his daughter Kylie, 11, live with the couple.
“The Porters are the most generous people I know and have helped anyone in need even after the financial crunch which happened after Bill retired,” says Curt Mount, volunteer pastor at Community of Christ Church in Woodbury, NJ and a full-time instrumental teacher in the Delanco School District. “When we found out about Rosenblatt Roofing and No Roof Left Behind™, we determined there was no doubt that the Porters are the most deserving of families,” Mount says.
M. Rosenblatt Roofing is led by the third generation of family members. Son and father team, Eric and Stephen Meller are delighted to give back to the Porters. “This Cherry Hill family has invested so much in helping other people for years; now it’s time for us to give back to them,” says Stephen Meller, company vice president. “Our company has always backed deserving programs in the community and helped others in need; we are proud to be part of the industry’s No Roof Left Behind program for the first time this year,” he adds.
No Roof Left Behind is a nationwide program (and Canada) gives folks in the community a way to help their good neighbors who have fallen on hard times. The program provides a local contractor the framework to provide a new roof at no cost to a deserving homeowner in need.
