CAMDEN, NJ — Lane shifts on multiple roads in a heavily traveled part of the city of Camden start Monday, according to Camden County Commissioner Al Dyer.

Test pit excavations will occur along Federal Street, between 1131 Federal St. and Seventh Street as well as along Market Street, between 1131 Federal St. and Fourth Street, Camden County said. Test pits will also affect side streets, the county said.

The project was expected to last four weeks.

"It’s recommended that motorists seek an alternate route or consider taking public transportation to avoid any potential delays," said Dyer, liaison to the Department of Public Works. "It’s especially important to remember that when you’re traveling through a construction area, please slow down and stay alert for crew members and debris."

The roadwork is necessary to complete the upcoming construction of the State Street Substation, the county said.
