1 Dead, Several Hurt In 3-Car Crash On Route 70 In Cherry Hill: Police

The driver who died had crossed through the median in the construction area and struck 2 vehicles on the other side, police said.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — One person died and several more sustained injuries from a three-car crash Monday morning in Cherry Hill, police said.

The incident occurred on Route 70 and Frontage Road. The driver who died in the crash was traveling on Route 70 West and crossed through the median in the construction area, authorities said. The vehicle then entered the eastbound lanes and hit two other cars, according to Cherry Hill Police Lt. Thomas Leone.

The other occupants of the involved vehicles suffered non-fatal injuries, officials said. Police haven't publicly identified anyone involved in the crash as of late Monday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing. It's unknown whether the deceased driver suffered a medical episode before the crash, police said.

State transit officials reported the crash at 10:14 a.m. Officials closed Route 70 East at East Gate Drive for several hours because of the crash.
