The nationwide list of attorneys included in the upcoming 22nd edition is based on more than 4.3 million confidential and detailed evaluations from more than 41,000 leading attorneys on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas. Lynda Calderone practices intellectual property law, concentrating on patent prosecution, litigation and IP due diligence; IP related agreements including licenses; and patentability, validity, infringement and unenforceability analyses. She counsels inventors and businesses in portfolio management and development of patent strategies, including conducting IP audits.
Michael Homans practices labor and employment law, concentrating on the litigation of workplace disputes and pre-litigation advice to employers and employees, including matters relating to wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblowing, non-compete agreements, wage payment, overtime, family and medical leave, and breach of contract.
Thomas Durling is chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department and has more than 30 years experience handling IP issues, with a focus on patent procurement, due diligence, IP litigation, and client counseling. A registered patent attorney, he helps clients prepare and prosecute patent applications; performs patent infringement analysis, validity studies and right to use studies; and negotiates and prepares licenses and other agreements for clients across a wide range of industries and applications.
Marty Judge, who is former Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey formerly representing the NJDEP, is chair of the firm’s Environmental and Real Estate Departments and focuses his practice on all facets of environmental litigation, environmental transactional issues, and regulatory compliance and counseling. He is presently counsel and a member of the Executive Committee of the Justice Stewart G. Pollock Environmental Inn of Court and director of the Environmental Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Jordan LaVine concentrates his practice on trademark, copyright, and unfair competition strategic counseling, litigation, licensing, and prosecution matters. He represents public and private companies in such industries as media and publishing, technology and telecommunications, consumer products and services, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, financial services, automotive, automotive chemicals and accessories, retail and commercial services, apparel jewelry, software, and food products.
Peter Spirgel is the firm’s managing shareholder and COO. He counsels businesses on taxation, shareholder disputes and issues, financing transactions, and mergers and acquisitions, and individuals in the area of Federal, State, and estate tax planning. He also represents clients engaged in or considering business ventures in alternative and renewable energy fields such as solar, wind, geothermal, cogeneration, biofuels, and biomass.
Steven Usdin focuses his practice on commercial and personal bankruptcy, general corporate and transactional matters, and commercial litigation. With more than 30 years experience, he has appeared on behalf of debtors, creditors, and equity security holders’ committees, and secured creditors in a variety of proceedings at the Trial and Appellate levels in State and Federal Courts.
