Splish Splash Into Safety with the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties' Swim Safe Program

Free Program Helps Keep Kids Safe In and Around Water

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional death for children under the age of 14. To improve the safety of children in and around the water, the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties is holding a free Swim Safe program at the Burlington-Riverfront YMCA on Wednesday, April 8 from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Open to children ages 6-12, Swim Safe prepares children by teaching basic swimming and water safety skills and increasing self-confidence and security while near the water. For the second consecutive year, Swim Safe is being supported by the Rotary Clubs of Burlington, Medford-Vincentown, Mount Holly and Willingboro.

“Learning to swim is not only a great way for kids to stay healthy – it’s also a critical safety skill. We encourage area children to take advantage of this free program,” said Tim Kerrihard, President and CEO of the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties.
