STAR Award: South Jersey's Top Junior Golfers Honored
Top-Ranked Angelina Tolentino, 9, Brinley Ehrlich, 14, Recognized for Outstanding Achievements

Two South Jersey junior golfers, including one ranked 15th in the world, received the 2016 Golf Performance Institute’s STAR award for their outstanding achievements in the sport, the training organization announced today.
Angelina Tolentino, 9, of Mount Laurel, was selected for her skills and performance in various U.S. Kids Golf tournaments.
Tolentino, a fourth-grader at Parkway Elementary School, began golfing two-and-a-half years ago after tagging along to the driving range with her father. Golf lessons, a trainer and a five-day intensive golfing instruction in Florida soon followed as Angelina’s skill became apparent.

“I have dreams of becoming a professional golfer,” said Angelina, who practices four times a week and works out two days a week at GPI’s state-of-the-art, golf fitness facility. “Working out at GPI helps improve my fitness and golf swing, especially in the winter months when it’s impossible to play outside.”
In April, immediately before the Masters, Angelina will compete in the televised Drive, Chip and Putt event at Augusta National as one of 80 national finalists whittled from 15,000 juniors across the country. U.S. Kids has ranked Angelina as 15th in the world.

“This tremendous accomplishment makes all of us at GPI very proud to be a part of her journey to compete with the most elite juniors in the country,” GPI CEO Brett Michener said.
Brinley Ehrlich, 14, of Marlton, was recognized for his consistent dedication to improving his golf game, from his participation in junior golf leagues to fitness training classes and practicing on the days between his workouts.
Ehlrich, who is homeschooled, has been golfing for four years. His diligent training has resulted in improved accuracy of distance shots, better swing performance and better scores. He uses GPI’s K-Vest to electronically monitor, analyze and improve his swing and upper and lower body rotations, something that’s nearly impossible to do with the naked eye.
“We have seen a tremendous increase in Brinley’s power, balance, stability and overall swing mechanics,” Michener said. “Every golfer could learn from Brinley’s frequent practice, playing schedule and dedication to improving his game.”
