Teen Wanted In Deadly Carjacking Found In Camden County: Feds

The fatal incident occurred last month in Philadelphia, authorities said.

CAMDEN, NJ — A teenager wanted in connection with a deadly attempted carjacking was taken into custody Monday in Camden, federal authorities said.

Rasheed Banks Jr., 15, was wanted for a July 12 carjacking incident in South Philadelphia, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. During the altercation, a man was fatally shot, authorities said.

The victim — Michael Salerno, 50 — attempted to intervene when someone was trying to carjack a friend who was using his vehicle, police said.

Philadelphia police said three people, including Banks, were involved in the incident. They were driving a red Kia Soul with an unknown New Jersey license plate.
