Shuttered Camden Co. Diner To Be Demolished, Replaced By Tim Hortons, Taco Bell

Penn Queen Diner, which closed after 58 years in business, will be demolished to make way for new restaurants and retail.

PENNSAUKEN, NJ — A shuttered diner will get demolished to make way for Tim Hortons and Taco Bell.

The restaurants will be constructed at the site of Penn Queen Diner, which closed in May 2022 after 58 years in business. Developers will also add a retail building to the lot on 7377 N Crescent Blvd.

Taco Bell will occupy 2,722 square feet, while Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons will take a 1,610-square-foot space. They'll each have dual drive-thrus.

It's not clear what might come to the 1,750-square-foot retail space.

Pennsauken's Zoning Board approved the plan Sept. 30 for memorialization and gave it full approval Nov. 1.

Tim Hortons, Canada's leading coffee restaurant chain, reached South Jersey in November 2021, when the Stratford location opened. Timmie's will also expand to Cinnaminson — although the tentative plan for a mid-November opening didn't materialize.

Overall, Timmie's has 5,300 locations — most of which are in Canada. Along with coffee, the shops also serve doughnuts, sandwiches and other items.

Taco Bell, meanwhile, has locations scattered throughout the region. But its former Pennsauken eatery on Route 73 has permanently closed.
