Traffic Delays Expected For Funeral Escort Of Camden Firefighter In Cherry Hill
Police and fire units from across the region will gather in the township to prepare for a funeral escort.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Traffic delays are expected Wednesday morning in Cherry Hill for a funeral escort honoring a fallen Camden firefighter.
Police and fire units from across the region will gather at Cherry Hill Mall in preparation of the funeral escort, beginning around 9 a.m., according to Cherry Hill police. This activity is planned and ceremonial in nature.
At around 10:45 a.m., residents may encounter minor traffic delays and temporary ramp closures along Route 38 as the escort proceeds to Maple Shade, police said. The procession will travel from Coles Avenue to Route 38.

Officers will assist with traffic flow to ensure the escort moves through the area safely and respectfully. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes in advance.
Authorities also advise allowing for extra travel time.

Services will honor Howard Bennett, a Camden firefighter who died in the line of duty Thursday after falling into the frozen Delaware River while conducting fire boat maintenance, Camden officials said.
The services will take place Wednesday at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden.
"We thank the public for their patience, cooperation, and for showing respect during this solemn occasion as we honor a fallen firefighter," the Cherry Hill Police Department said.
