Voorhees Library to Host Spring Book Sale June 13-14

The sale is one of the largest used book sales in South Jersey.

The Camden County Library’s Voorhees Branch will hold its annual Spring Book Sale June 13 and 14. The sale, dubbed as one of the largest used book sales in South Jersey, takes place 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on June 13 and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on June 14.

The sale is set to include between 25,000 and 50,000 books, CDs, DVDs, videos, books-on-tape and more for sale at drastically reduced prices.

About 90 percent of the items are donated by customers, collectors and estates, with used library materials making up only about 10 percent of the stock at the Spring Book Sale.

Typically hundreds of book-lovers, bargain hunters and book dealers from the tri-state area are attracted to the event where 99 percent of the items will be priced between fifty cents and two dollars, with nothing over three dollars, according to William Brahms, branch manager of the Voorhees library and chief organizer of the sale.

The library’s semi-annual sales have always attracted large numbers of shoppers, but turnout and the number of items sold has been increasing steadily during the last few sales.

“I think the demise of store chains like Borders and other brick and mortar book stores has created a real demand for the quality materials we offer at our sales,” Brahms said. “We are actually now filling a void left by the changing book publishing industry.”

All proceeds from the sale will go to support programs for customers of the Camden County Library System.

The library is located at 203 Laurel Road across from the Voorhees Town Center.
