Driver Killed In Burlington Co. Crash Was Actually At Fault: Officials

Earlier Wednesday, officials said that a different vehicle involved in the collision had been traveling the wrong way on Route 130.

WILLINGBORO, NJ — A driver was killed in a fiery crash after they traveled the wrong way down Route 130 and hit another vehicle head-on early Wednesday morning, officials said.

A sedan driver, who died in the crash, went the wrong way down the northbound side in Willingboro and struck an SUV at about 12:30 a.m., according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office (BCPO). A third vehicle was also hit, authorities said.

Later Wednesday morning, the BCPO said that the SUV had been driving the wrong way down the road. But further investigation revealed that the sedan was actually traveling against traffic, according to law enforcement.

The vehicles collided along the 4200 block of the northbound lane, the BCPO said. The sedan then caught fire. Nobody else was in the sedan besides the driver, the BCPO said.

The SUV driver was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden and is expected to survive. The operator of the third vehicle wasn't hurt.

As a result of the crash, Route 130 was closed in both directions for several hours earlier Wednesday.

No charges have been filed.
