Opening a cannabis business in New Jersey typically requires a series of approvals from the state and local-government agencies. Both businesses will need to secure state licenses to cultivate and manufacture cannabis. If successful, they will then need to apply for full zoning approval from the township.
Each business will have 180 days to complete those steps, unless Cinnaminson's mayor and committee opt to extend their deadline, according to the resolution.
July Harvest's prospective Wallace Boulevard facility is about one block behind the Walmart lot, while Reilly Farms would operate nearby on Union Landing Road.

The township established the Cannabis Establishment Overlay Zone in the 2021 ordinance that regulates where weed businesses can operate. The area is in Cinnaminson's industrial and light-industrial districts.
