At least 24 people, including 21 children, were hurt in a crash involving five school buses in South Jersey on Monday, police said.

Five buses rear-ended each other on Tuckerton Road and Lenape Trail on Monday afternoon, according to the Medford Township Police Department. The buses were picking up children from the JCC Medford Day Camp.
At least 21 children, one camp staff member and two bus drivers suffered minor injuries in the 4:30 p.m. crash, and many of them were taken to Virtua hospitals in Voorhees and Mount Holly, police said.

A total of 67 campers and 10 staff members were taken off the buses and taken back to the JCC camp in Medford, where they would be reunited with their families.
“We thank our partners in law enforcement, emergency medical services and the JCC staff for their work in ensuring the safety of our campers and staff were immediately attended to,” the camp said in a statement Monday night.

Medford Lakes police, Virtua Paramedics, Moorestown EMS, Evesham EMS, Mount Laurel EMS, Tabernacle EMS, Indian Mills EMS and Lumberton EMS all responded to the scene and assisted with the treatment of those who were injured.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
