6,000+ Potholes Fixed In Burlington County So Far This Year
Last year, more than 16,000 potholes were fixed using nearly 450 tons of material, the county tells Patch.
BURLINGTON COUNTY — Like clockwork, a new batch of potholes emerged on Burlington County roads this year.
Potholes thrive when water collects in road crevices and expands as it freezes, experts told Patch. The weight of passing vehicles, especially heavy trucks, adds to pothole damage, the experts continued.
“Anyone who has lived in the northeast region knows that winter storms and the deep freezes that often follow them can take a devastating toll on asphalt roads,” Burlington County Commissioner Deputy Director Tom Pullion said in a press release.

Also like clockwork, Burlington County road crews have been out fixing potholes. More than 6,082 potholes on county highways have been fixed with more than 88 pounds of material so far this year, David Levinsky, Burlington County’s Spokesperson, told Patch.
In 2021, more than 16,000 potholes on Burlington County roads were fixed using nearly 450 tons of material, he added.

The county encourages residents to let them know if they’ve missed any potholes by emailing Highway@co.burlington.nj.us, filling out a report online at burlingtoncountynj.formstack.com/forms/report_a_pothole or calling the Burlington County Pothole Hotline at 609-265-5021 to report potholes on county roads.
New data suggest it might be worth letting Burlington County – or whatever county you live in – know about potholes that you see.
Last month, AAA released data that indicated that in 2o21, about 10% of drivers sustained damage to their car that was “significant enough to warrant a repair” after driving through a pothole.
The average cost for each repair was $600, translating to potholes costing drivers a staggering $26.5 billion in 2021 alone, AAA said.
