Air Quality Dangerous For Sensitive Groups in South Jersey on Sunday

South Jersey residents who are sensitive to the heat should stay inside on Sunday, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection said Sunday morning.

The NJDEP has declared an Orange Alert for Sunday.

Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category across most of New Jersey due to light southwest winds, mostly sunny skies, and warmer temperatures.

Sensitive individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours.

In addition, fine particles are also expected to reach the moderate category across the state.

Moderate air quality is expected to return on Monday.
