Bail Lowered for Man Who Allegedly Hit, Dragged South Jersey Police Officer

Brandon Belton's bail was lowered from $100,000 to $75,000 on Monday, according to the Burlington County Times.

The bail has been lowered for a Willingboro man facing charges of aggravated assault of a police officer and attempted manslaughter after he allegedly hit Riverside Police Sgt. Amaya Urtasun early Saturday morning, the Burlington County Times reports.

Brandon Belton’s bail was initially set at $100,000, but was lowered to $75,000 on Monday, according to the report.

Urtasun, a 17-year-veteran of the force, was struck as Belton allegedly attempted to escape during questioning. Urtasun was responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle at Riverside Elementary School.

Belton and 39-year-old Bonnie Manning, of Riverside, were charged in the case. Manning didn’t appear in court on Monday, according to the report.

Urtasun was hospitalized with knee and abdominal injuries. Her status remained unknown as of Monday, according to the report.
