Bike Thieves Nabbed In Burlington County, Police Say

The bikes were stolen during the months of April and May, according to authorities.

RIVERTON, NJ — Two men were arrested in connection with several bike thefts in Riverton, authorities announced on Thursday.

The men, whom police did not identify, stole a bike that was parked near Riverton Health and Fitness on April 29, according to authorities. Police subsequently arrested one of the men and charged him with theft, according to authorities.

Then on May 22, police received reports of bikes being stolen from screened-in porches at houses in the 600 block of Linden Avenue and the 400 block of Thomas Avenue in Riverton, authorities said. Police arrested a man for those thefts and subsequently learned he was also involved with the April theft, authorities said.

Police said this second man was "charged accordingly" and sent to Burlington County jail. Police did not specify what those charges were.

Police used the thefts as an impetus to remind residents to always remember to lock their homes, cars and bicycles.
