BurlCo, OceanCo Schools Districts Split $5M To Up Internet Access

Schools will use the funds on things like Wi-Fi, according to a press release.

Libraries and schools throughout Burlington and Ocean County will split $5.4 million in grant funding, according to U.S. Rep. Andy Kim.

The funding comes from the Federal Communications Commission’s Emergency Connectivity Fund Program and can be used to provide students with “internet service, laptops, Wi-Fi hotspots, and other equipment necessary for their education,” Kim, who represents New Jersey’s Third Legislative District, said in a press release.

According to the press release, funding recipients and the amount of funding each will get are:

A school official at one of the grant recipients said his district’s allocation will allow for a much-needed upgrade.

“We are now able to replace Chromebooks that had been considered end of life with brand new devices to ensure a continuity of learning when students leave school at the end of each day,” Dr. Phillip Crisostomo, Willingboro School District Supervisor of Technology and Data Analysis, said in the press release.
